2015 Preseason Comments
Looney Lou is taking a quick overview of the league and the upcoming season.
The new season brings a major shack up in the league team set up. Pretty much every team has been reassigned and will be facing a series of different teams this year. The league as a whole sees a greater percentage of their teams that are one dimensional offensively, being pass oriented. Luckily for them most defenses also have a glaring weakness – pass defense. Starting with the Nebraska Conference we notice a wide discrepancy between the two divisions. The West division is the stronger of the two, and the most balanced top to bottom of all four divisions in the league. The East division is probably the weakest from top to bottom.
Nebraska Conference
West Division –
This division will be a dogfight as all the teams should be in the divisional race until the end. The only thing that will change it will be injuries. The Patriots will have a slight edge to take the division. Philadelphia and Detroit should be fighting for the title as well as a wildcard spot. Miami will fall short. Dark horse is Seattle. Dell could easily take the division if he has grown in his coaching skills. The Seahawks is one of the teams that will be hard to lose with, but as we have seen in the past that does not prevent the team form losing. You only have to look as Jerry with Indianapolis a few years ago and Byron more recently. These teams having to play each other will be the only reason why they could not all make the playoffs. How they’ll finish - New England, Philadelphia, Detroit, Seattle, Miami
East Division –
This is the weakest division in the league. It is possible, but unlikely that no wildcard teams will come out of this division. I will have to go with the old pro coach – Jim and the Steelers. He is just too cagey to not take this division. Carolina and Minnesota will be fighting for second and the long shot at a wildcard spot. Both DJ and Greg have enough experience to something out of nothing – especially Greg. This will be most likely the last year that Greg gets to use Peterson and I expect him to ride him hard to make the playoffs. St. Louis and Indianapolis will be bringing up the bottom of the division. Will has his hands full with a subpar St. Louis team. Ben has to hope and pray that being pass first, second and third is the way to grab a couple of wins. How they’ll finish - Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Carolina, Indianapolis, St. Louis.
Division champs – Pittsburgh and New England. Wild cards – Philadelphia, Detroit, Minnesota, Seattle.
Lancaster Conference
North Division –
This very likely will be known as the aerial express division. You have 3 teams that will be airing it out so much that their runningbacks will parked on the sidelines wondering why they are on the team. Dale’s Denver Broncos are the best team in this division and possibly in the league. With an improved defense it will be very hard to beat this team. Thom’s Chargers is down from last year but don’t count him out as he is always tough. Rich has his best chance in a long time to make a splash in the playoffs with his Chiefs. Not sure if his ball control offense will be able to keep up with the fastbreak offenses of the other teams. Dave’s Dallas Cowboys still lack a defense to aid his offense. Scott has switched to Arizona and is looking at a one dimensional offense which will frustrate him at times. The defense will help him stay in the playoffs. How they’ll finish – Denver, San Diego, Kansas City, Dallas, Arizona.
South Division –
This division will be a two team race between Amber’s Packers and Jeff’s Saints. Both are big play offenses. Jeff has the definite advantage as he has the best defense in a while and Amber has to deal with an injured Aaron Rogers. Filling out the rest of the division is San Fran, Cincinnati and Washington. Byron’s 49ers should have a say in the division and possibly the playoffs if he can get over the curse he seems to be playing under. Byron have you gone to a witch doctor or a priest to get the curse removed? Witt has finally got smart and jumped ship from the Raiders and took control of the Bengals. And then there is Washington. Kevin after having a decent team last year has fallen on hard times again. Gambling and cursing the other players dice will be his only chance of making the playoffs. How they’ll finish – New Orleans, Green Bay, Cincinnati, San Fran, Washington.
Division Champs – New Orleans and Denver. Wild cards – San Diego, Green Bay, Kansas City, Dallas.
