The 2015 Strat-o-matic season highlights.
The 2015 season promises to be new in many regards. First the conferences and divisions have been rearranged. Since most coaches have been in the league a considerable number of years it seemed appropriate that the divisions are no longer restricted to experianced coaches being in two divisions and newer coaches being in the other two divisions. The following teams and coaches have been shuffled as follows:
Nebraska conference:
East Division:
Carolina
Pittsburgh
St. Louis
Minnesota
Indianapolis
West Division:
Detroit
Miami
Philadelphia
New England
Seattle
Lancaster Conference
North Division
San Diego
Dallas
Kansas City
Denver
Arizona
South Division
New Orleans
Green Bay
San Francisco
Washington
Cincinnati
Also we've had some team changes this year. In no particular order:
The Rams make a return to the League after a long absence. Will decided he'd had enough of the Giants and Eli Manning and so opts to try and take the Rams to the playoffs. The Rams have a solid defense and getting better and if they can keep a healthy QB they might make some progress in the years ahead.
Roger abandoned the Falcons after two years of disappointing performance and before that several years of beating his head against the solid rock of the Tampa Bay cards. The high powered Lions offense coupled with their solid defense should make him a worthy opponent once again. Matt Stafford slings the ball just like Warren Moon and the Houston Oilers 4 wide offense of the 90's and we might see it make a return to the Lions offense this year.
Gary, long time coach of Chicago, decided that he too would like to have a defense rather than help the opposing team down the field. The change to Philadelphia will be quite a challenge as they have a good offense and good defense making him someone to watch out for again. Not that he wasn't always but the Chicago defense just fell apart last year and doesn't look any better for the future. Monsters of the Midway have been replaced by Cookie Monsters of the Pantry.
Scott too decided Houston wasn't going anywhere. After having one of the best teams the previous year they just self destructed this year. Plus with a QB that has INT Returned for TD 2-8, 11, 12 - X 9,10 and a defense that can't get out of the way fast enough it was time to move on. Arizona while not stellar in offense has probably the best defense in the league so a change to them will be a good move.
Witt abandons Oakland and probably not soon enough. Years of squeezing wins out of a team that has none in them has taken a toll and run up his drinking tab. Cincinnati has rebounded nicely from Jeff taking them a few years ago and running yet another team into the ground. Good offense and good defense are a welcome addition to Witt. Just not sure he's going to know what to do with either.
With the changes in teams and the shakeup in divisions and conferences this year will be interesting.
Party on.
